Network Issues

Due to China's Internet policy, foreign networks cannot be used normally in China, which means you need to take some measures to ensure that you can use the Internet normally in China.

Measure 1

Apply for a Chinese SIM card

You can choose to buy a Chinese SIM card, which is the most convenient way. Having a Chinese number and SIM card will make it very convenient to register various apps, take a taxi, and book a hotel. In the T2 terminal of Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, there will be a package of SIM cards in China specifically for foreign customers, and there will be staff to guide you on how to activate it with your passport.

The location is just opposite the U-home convenience store in T2. There will be a sim sign, but please note that it will operate from 9 am in China to 0:45 am.

If you are in T1 Aviation Building, there is also a place to apply for phone cards at the counter opposite the T1-E1 elevator entrance (the counter in T1 is open 24 hours a day)

These locations are easy to find, or ask staff to help guide you

Measure 2

Buy an ESIM plan

If you don't want to buy a SIM card for a trip to China, you can apply for an ESIM package through your mobile phone (recommended website:www.airalo.com/es-419), provided that your mobile phone supports the ESIM function, so that you can use the Internet normally in China while keeping your mobile phone number.

Another thing to note! --VPN

If you use a Chinese SIM card or wifi, one problem you can't avoid is that you can't connect to websites outside of China because of China's network control. To do this, you must install a VPN software for your device. Here I recommend the Kuailian app (https://letsvpn.world/). There are installation instructions for different devices. After registration, you can choose a short-term package to allow you to connect to foreign websites normally during your trip in China, such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and so on.
